About Us
Communities in Schools of Cape Fear (CISCF) is dedicated to facilitating the connecton between community resources and the public schools of New Hanover and Pender Counties for the purposes of helping young people learn, stay in school and prepare for life. CISCF works in partnership with public schools to identify and connect students, many in jeopardy of dropping out, with the community resources they need to stay engaged in school. CISCF offers programs in area schools and brings community resources, services, parents and volunteers together to help meet students' needs. With mentoring and tutoring support, students can concentrate on learning and educators can concentrate on TEACHING!
CISCF is a local affliate of Communities In Schools, the nation's largest dropout prevention organization. For over 30 years, Communities In Schools has worked to ensure that every child needs and deserves these "Five Basics":
1. A one-on-one relationship with a caring adult
2. A safe place to learn and grow
3. A healthy start and a healthy future
4. A marketable skill to use upon graduation
5. A chance to give back to peers and community
All CISCF programming revolves around these basics and helping students stay in school. Every child needs and deserves the resources that make the difference between a graduate and a dropout. Get involved with CISCF and realize how education can dramatically alter a community, one child at a time!
