Non-Traditional Learning

Communities In Schools provides learning environments for students who are experiencing difficulty in achieving success in their school settings. The Mary S. Mosely Performance Learning Center is a non-traditional high school that serves serves students in grades 10-12 and is designed for students who are at risk of dropping out--who may have fallen behind in their credits, have difficulty dealing with social issues, or are just not successful in their current school. The CIS Suspension Program (formerly Program E.A.S.Y.) offers students who are suspended from school for 10 days or less the opportunity to maintain their course work with the help of teachers, while they are suspended. NovaNet online high school curriculum is offered at CIS of Cape Fear in the W.I.R.E. Youth Center after school and during the summer. THis curriculum offers students the opportunity to make up classes that they have failed, allowing them to "catch up" and potentially graduate with their peers.
