  • Lisa joined CIS Cape Fear in January of 2007 after retiring from New Hanover County Schools, where she worked for over 30 years as a teacher, Behavior Specialist and Grant Administrator. She also worked for the Department of Public Instruction for three years as a School Safety Specialist. Lisa utilizes her experience with grants, teaching, and administration in helping Communities In Schools as it develops programs to serve more youth. She is committed to providing much needed resources to youth at risk of dropping out of school, and enjoys connecting with kids at the W.I.R.E. Youth Center. Lisa has three grown children who live in Wilmington and enjoys traveling, exercising and boating.1
Sue Tucker

  • Prior to joining CISNC in 2008, Sue Tucker worked as the Institutional Grants Manager for Macalester College in St. Paul, MN. She has over 20 years of experience in higher education grant management including work at Duke University and the Duke University Medical Center. She works with the various public and private granting organizations and seeks to secure further funding to help CISCF maintain the quality instruction and experiences that enhance the lives of the students CISCF serves. She has two grown children and two grandchildren on the way! She is married to a retired Presbyterian minister.
Natasha Davis

  • Natasha Davis joined Communities in Schools of Cape Fear in July 2009 as the Finance Manager. She earned her BS in Accounting from UNC Greensboro with a concentration in Information Systems. She brings 12 years accounting experience with 7 of those in the nonprofit sector. She has experience creating accounting systems, implementing data management systems, and developing organizational foundations. She volunteered as Treasurer on the Board of Directors for the Full Belly Project for two years. During this time she helped lead the organization from a small start-up nonprofit to a full functioning international development organization with global recognition and support. Natasha is a proud member of the Wilmington Civitan Club and alumi of Leadership Wilmington. She is excited to join the CIS team and to utilize her skills to ensure that CIS continues to provide students the resources they need to succeed.
Robin Colbert

  • Intake Specialist, Receptionist
  • Robin joined CIS Cape Fear in November of 2006. She worked her first 18 months at The Village at Greenfield Family Resource Center as a Volunteer Coordinator with the Americorps VISTA program. She has volunteered in the New Hanover School System for many years while her two sons attended school. She is an Aids Awareness and Prevention Facilitator and works within the community educating residents about Aids Awareness and STDÃÔ. Robin meets with families registering for the Communities In Schools Suspension Program. She is also the first face you see when entering W.I.R.E. She enjoys reading, bowling and playing with her dog Speedy.
Tracy Tisdale

  • Volunteer Coordinator/PaSS Program Director/Stuff The Bus
  • Tracy joined Communities In Schools of Cape Fear as a Vista Volunteer in July 2002. After three years in that capacity she then became the Program Director of the PaSS (Partnership for School Success) Program and the Stuff The Bus School Supply Program. Tracy also is the volunteer coordinator for many programs at CIS of CF. She is dedicated to helping students successfully learn, stay in school and prepare for life. Tracy is happily married and the proud mother of two wonderful children. Tracy enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, boating and fishing.

  • Cape Fear Middle School Graduation Coach/ Site Coordinator
  • Shelly joined CIS Cape Fear in May 2009 after graduating from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and interning at New Hanover County Juvenile Day Treatment Center. Shelly is a Licensed Recreation Therapist and utilizes her degree by working with individual and small groups of students throughout the day and coordinating after school programs for students at risk of dropping out of school.

Brian Blake

  • Brian joined CIS Cape Fear in December of 2008. He is a graduate of UNC Wilmington with a B.A. in Psychology and History, and was a star athlete as a hurdler on the track team. Brian has worked with UNCW and the Safe Schools/Healthy Students grant as an evaluator and with New Hanover County Schools as a School Safety Specialist. Brian has also worked with Wilmington Police Department, Community Boys & Girls Club, and other community groups with youth. In addition to CIS Suspension Program Coordinator, Brian also directs the CIS Track and Field club and is a track and field coach at New Hanover High School.

  • Megan was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work at the W.I.R.E. program in January of 2009. Before joining the Communities in Schools staff, she was a Language Arts teacher in New Hanover County. Megan has loved working with all of the dynamic students in the after school program. Working with at risk youth in a creative and supportive environment is why Communities in Schools is such a perfect fit for her! Megan moved to Wilmington five years ago from Gainesville, Florida, where she attended University of Florida. She is happily married to a fun-loving surfer, is always thirsty for travel, and loves calling Wilmington home.
Annie Adams

  • 21st CCLC Program Director/NovaNET Facilitator
  • Annie joined CIS Cape Fear in October of 2006 after moving here from Portland Oregon, where she worked for Portland Public Schools as a high school teacher as well as Young Life. She also worked for Wake County Public Schools in Cary, NC prior to her move out west. Annie utilizes her experience with at risk teenagers, by working with the after school program offered at WIRE as well as serving as the site coordinator at New Hanover High. She is committed to working directly with youth at risk of dropping out of school, and enjoys watching students at the W.I.R.E. Youth Center become successful in life and in school. Annie is due in September 09 with her first son, Levi. She is married to Brandon and enjoys doing triathlons, working with Young Life, and enjoying a good cup of coffee.

  • Baby FAST Coordinator/Afterschool Site Coordinator
  • Robin began her work with CIS Cape Fear in December of 2008 after engaging in advocacy and relief/missions efforts in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She worked on the ground in Congo for over a year and then returned to the US, where she has served in a more supportive role. A passion for supporting families was cultivated during her time in Congo. Robin has greatly enjoyed developing this passion through her work at CIS Cape Fear where she coordinates Smart Start Baby FAST, a program dedicated to supporting teen parents and their families. Robin is also the site coordinator for the high school afterschool program, and she loves spending time with students at the W.I.R.E. Youth Center.

  • Brad has been a part of the CIS team since August of 2008. He brings over twelve years of experience working with middle and high school students in a variety of settings. He has served in the roles of coach, teacher, youth pastor, program coordinator, speaker, and all-around good guy. He loves helping students reach for their greatest potential in life. Brad is married with three children and loves to play basketball and soccer.
Lyndsie Hutson

  • Lyndsie joined CISCF in August of 2008 after leaving her position as a Site Coordinator and County Director of afterschool programs for New Hanover County Schools. She obtained her degree from Mount Olive College in Early Education and is continually expanding her knowledge to better serve all the students she works with in middle through high school. Lyndsie serves as the Pender County Schools Program Supervisor, overseeing operation of 5 middle school afterschool programs. She is excited to be apart of new programs being implemented in the county and enjoys working with students of all ages. Lyndsie enjoys spending time with her family and friends, as well as boating, spending time at the beach and scrapbooking.

  • Mallory joined CIS Cape Fear in September of 2008. She previously worked for CIS Pitt County as a program director for their Girl Power and Reality Store programs. Mallory began working with CIS Pitt County through an internship during the fall semester of 2007. She graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor's of Science in Family and Community Services in December of 2007. Mallory is currently working as the Graduation Coach and Afterschool Site Coordinator for West Pender Middle School. She is committed to providing much needed resources to her students during and after the school day.
Kris Jones

  • Young Fathers Specialist for Baby FAST
  • Kris Jones joins CIS of Cape Fear after working one year in Wayne County Schools and 4 years in New Hanover county Schools. He was a Behavior Specialist in Wayne County and a Special Education Assistant /Alternative Teacher Assistant in New Hanover County Schools. He graduated from UNCW with a B.A. in Physical Education and was a star track athlete on a team that won four conference championships. Kris serves as the assistant teacher in the CIS Suspension Program. Kris has coached Track at New Hanover High School for four years. Kris has two young boys of his own.
Halley Thompson

  • Halley Thompson joined CIS Cape Fear as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer in August 2009. Prior to CIS, she attended UNC-Asheville where she received her BA in English and a teaching certification. Halley previously worked for AmeriCorps as a Montana Conservation Corps volunteer. As a VISTA, Halley is committed to helping CIS develop community partnerships, resources, and lasting programs. She also enjoys spending time with her three dogs: D'arby, Phillip, and Lena Pearl.
Aaron Williams

  • Americorp VISTA
  • Aaron joined CIS Cape Fear in August of 2009 as an Americorp VISTA. As a VISTA he will be working on CIS - Project Achieve. Project Achieve is a CIS initiative to develop a statewide system of student services to increase the number of CIS students who attend post secondary education and career training. Aaron graduated from the University of Missouri in 2006. After graduation he worked as a high school spiritual life teacher, boys basketball coach and as a college pastor at a local church in Columbia, Mo. In his freetime Aaron enjoys pick-up basketball games, reading, and the beach.
