The Mission of Communities In Schools is to surround its students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
The Vision of Communities In Schools of Cape Fear is to increase the success of students by providing exposure to academic and career opportunities, access to resources, and enable the development of “life sustaining skills”.
At Communities In Schools, we work directly inside public schools, supporting vulnerable students and those with the greatest risk of dropping out. We empower more than 1,000 students to stay in school and on the path to graduation each year. Our trained student support specialists do this by partnering with teachers and administration at each school site, mobilizing the community to offer students extra support, and doing whatever it takes to help them succeed. Our unique model works because it’s based on national research, driven by community relationships and supported by local resources.
We believe allstudents need and deserve access to our 5 Basics:
1. A one-on-one relationship with a caring adult
2. A safe place to learn and grow
3. A healthy start and a healthy future
4. A marketable skill to use upon graduation
5. A chance to give back to peers and community
All of our programming revolves around supporting these basics and helping students stay in school.
