Volunteer Opportunities

Opportunities to Engage:

If you’re interested in volunteering in any of our programs, please download and complete our Background Check Authorization:  2022 Volunteer Background Check Authorization, and email a copy to info@ciscapefear.org

3rd Grade Literacy Support:

Our PaSS program is a 10-week, one hour per week, volunteer opportunity through which you are matched with a 3rd grader who has been identified as not likely to pass their End Of Grade tests and promote to the next grade level. You will be provided with a reading comprehension curriculum and will meet with the same student(s) one-on-one for 30 minutes each week during the 10 weeks leading up to the EOGs, working with them on reading comprehension.

Pender County programs run Monday – Thursday afternoons from 3:30 p.m.  – 6 p.m. at each CIS school site.

Teen Court:

Youth and adult volunteers are needed to help with monthly teen court sessions in both counties. Youth volunteers will serve as prosecuting and defense attorneys, clerks of court, and jurors. Adult volunteers help the youth volunteers, serve as presiding Judge, attorney mentors, and more.

Guest Speakers:

Guest speakers are welcome to address students at any of our school sites. We encourage college and career readiness conversations (resume writing, mock interviews, career pathways, financial literacy, etc.), as well as motivational presentations.
