Empowering students to stay in school and achieve in life

At Communities In Schools, we work directly inside public schools, supporting vulnerable students and those with the greatest risk of dropping out. We empower thousands of students to stay in school and on the path to graduation each year. Our trained Student Support Specialists do this by linking students and their families with resources, including mental health counseling, tutoring, attendance monitoring, mentoring and afterschool programs. CIS also provides whole- school supports like free school supplies, family engagement opportunities and resource fairs.

Our unique model works because it’s based on national research, driven by community relationships, and supported by local resources.

Last school year, we provided free programming and support to 32,713 students, 2,998 of those received ongoing, case-managed support.
